Virtual reality laparoscopic simulator

A virtual reality laparoscopic simulator, a laparoscopic surgery simulator that fits in a headset, to practise orientation inside the cavity, camera handling and the sequence of each procedure, with no consumables and no dedicated room. It runs on Meta Quest headsets at around €350, so every resident can train wherever and whenever they want.

What it includes

  • 01Spatial orientation through the camera view
  • 02Step-by-step procedure sequence
  • 03Soft tissue with realistic behaviour
  • 04No consumables or room: just a headset

Who it is for

  • Residents and tutors

General surgery, gynaecology, urology and other specialties with a laparoscopic approach.

    Resident training · Self-directed practice · Assessment

  • Clinical simulation centres

More practice stations without buying more towers or consoles.

Workshops · Courses · Open practice

  • Medical schools

A first contact with laparoscopy for every student.

Introduction · Anatomy · Basic skills

What it solves

  • Box trainers need materials and supervision

In virtual reality there are no consumables to replace and trainees can practise on their own.

  • Console-based VR simulators are expensive and fixed

All you need is a standalone headset that goes to any room, classroom or home.

  • Orientation through the camera is hard at first

Trainees practise navigation and indirect vision as many times as needed before entering theatre.

  • Few practice hours per resident

Every resident gets their own practice station, with no rotas or bookings.

Why work with us

  • 01Portable and affordable
Headsets at around €350, with no computer, tower or installation.
  • 02Realistic soft tissue
Tissue deforms and reacts as it would in a real intervention.
  • 03Built with surgeons
It grows from the surgical simulator built with Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital.
  • 04Complements what you have
It sits alongside the box trainer and the wet lab; it does not replace them.

Frequently asked questions

What is a laparoscopic simulator?

A tool to practise laparoscopic surgery outside the operating room. It can be physical, like a box trainer, or virtual, like ours, which recreates the cavity, the instruments and the camera view in virtual reality.

How does it differ from a box trainer?

A box trainer builds dexterity with real instruments and needs materials and setup. A virtual simulator trains orientation, anatomy and procedure sequence with no consumables, anywhere. The best approach combines both.

Does it provide haptic feedback?

Meta Quest headsets do not reproduce the physical resistance of the instruments: the controllers only vibrate. That is why the simulator focuses on what virtual reality trains best: spatial orientation, camera handling, anatomy and decision-making. For fine dexterity, it pairs well with a box trainer.

Which procedures does it include?

The simulator builds on a procedure atlas by specialty, and new procedures can be developed. In the demo we show you what is available and assess what your department needs.

Can we buy the laparoscopic simulator?

It is licensed per centre or department, so there are no towers or consoles to buy. The only purchase is the headsets, which we can supply ready to use.

How much does a VR laparoscopic simulator cost?

Headsets cost around €350 each; the licence depends on the number of users and whether you need custom procedures. The best start is a demo and a pilot; our pricing page explains the models.
